I promised an update, though if you pay attention to the news, I’m not sure why I’d need to…. but, here you go- this is a copy and paste of the reply I got from Jessica at the USDA- she really didn’t need to respond, but it was nice of her to have done so.
Sorry for the delay in responding. This is in follow-up to your previous inquiry as well as the one below. As you may already know, Congress passed and the President signed into law on October 16 a continuing resolution to fund federal programs through January 15, 2014. Congress will now begin the work of establishing a full year budget for federal operations.
SNAP benefits will be issued and available to clients. FNS will continue to work with our State partners to administer nutrition programs and ensure access to food assistance to those in need.

I just think it bears updating because, well, whenever you see one of those fear-inducer things going around, sometimes, all you really need to do is go right to the source. And well, when the person posting it is the person who received it, then there is an email in it- prior to speculating, you can confirm.
Or, well, you know, in some cases, you’ll get ignored- but in this case, I didn’t. What gets me about this whole thing is, I couldn’t help wondering, as I went through thread after thread of speculation, of hate, of just pure nastiness- how many people actually bothered to go to one or both of the sources?
I’m betting not many. Kind of sad, when you think about it.
